The Mountain Bike Routes

This is a route specific map and is designed so that route directions and map are on the same side:

1. Brake Sweat
11 miles
A great introduction to mountain biking and also the Mellor area, its not too long but it includes such variety. There are some technical sections but these are quite short so if you're just starting out and don't feel confident about tackling them it's no problem to hope off and walk down. Its a hilly route so you will need to be reasonably fit or take your time. If you are struggling then you can use the map to shorten the route.

2. Bike Buzz
14 miles
A route of great contrast from low lying trails to a high moorland pass. You'll do a fair bit of climbing but then you'll get your rewards with some great scenery and some lovely donwhils that aren't too technical.

Route Starting Points

The route descriptions start at the Torrs Riverside Car Park (free) at Hague Bar. Accessible via the B6101 from New Mills & Marple. Parking is also allowed at various points on the B6101 before the turn off for the car park.

• On street parking in Marple near turn off for Roman Lakes Lesiure Park.
