Peak District
Around Gradbach Mountain Bike Map

£ (free p&p)

Quick Glance

This magical area of the Peak District includes wild hidden valleys, great views, varied off road - from nerve jangling rocky singletrack descents, testing climbs, stony and grassy tracks, to valley passes and river crossings.

Plus you have the highest village in England, the meeting of three counties at the scenic Three Shire Heads and an area which is abundant in wildlife.

Bumpy off-roads descents, tricky ford crossings, classic uphill off-road climbs (just steep enough and with enough obstacles to see what prowess you have!). Blueberry lined paths, tiny lanes, hollering singletrack, stony tracks, remote valleys & fantastic views.

Not an area that would suit mountain bike beginners.

These are our suggestions whch are arrowed on the map and described on the reverse. They are aimed at intermediate to experienced mountain bikers.

Wallabies Revenge
16.5 miles
An old Packhorse Way. Bumpy off-roads descents, tricky ford crossings, classic uphill off-road climbs (just steep enough and with enough obstacles to see what prowess you have!). Blueberry lined paths, tiny lanes, a hollering singletrack descent, remote valleys, fantastic views, and a long downhill white knuckle finale with possibly 'heart in your mouth' moments!

Lapwing Swagger
13.5 miles
Up to the heights of South Head before a 700 feet downhill blast. Skirt Chinley Churn, or use the map to take in an extra uphill and downhill, then you're soon pulling into Birch Vale and possibly for refuelling at the cafe. Then off towards Rowarth and the most technical descent of the day, then onto a bridleway over the moors, shortly followed by some sweet singletrack in the heather. A mixture of gritty tracks, grassy sections and a fast descent followed by a short last leg on a lane will bring you back to the finish. A very varied ride that should leave you tired & satisfied at the finish.

Variations
You can use the map to adapt the mountain bike routes as required - eg shorten or lengthen, or to make your own route up.
