AROUND INVERNESS Mountain Bike Maps
These maps are based on the 5 mountain bike centres around Inverness in the heart of the Highlands. The areas range from 10 miles to 40 miles miles from Inverness making it possible to try all of them in just a few days. Visiting these areas will leave long lasting menories of spectacular Highland scenery, superb facilities and the desire to return for more adventures. Map 3: Golspie Highland Wildcat
Map Covers phase 1 of the Highland Wildcat Trails above the town of Golspie.
Suitable for intermediate to advanced level riders. Has the longest continuous Black downhill in the UK. 30 km of singletrack trails.
Map 4: Learnie Red Rock
Map Covers the Learnie Red Rock Trails on the Black Isle. Suitable for intermediate to advanced level riders. 15km of singletrack trails.

Abriachan

Abriachan sits high above Loch Ness with magnificent view of the Great Glen and north Highlands. Just 10 miles from Inverness and run by a charitable trust, there are facilities for all the familly. The Kelpies' MTB trails, built by Rick Allsop, one of Scotland's top MTB designers, are ideal for beginners and intermediate level riders. More expreienced riders can enjoy exploring a wealth of well graded trails in the area.

Carbisdale & Balblair

There are a total of 17km of MTB trails here designed by Rick Allsop.The trails are split into two very different and distinct areas. Carbisdale is more suited to a short ride with easier trails. Balblair has a longer demanding black trail that will challenge the most experienced, but there are also some easier rides too!

The countryside around Strathpeffer is perfect for mountain biking. The area is used for both a mountain bike race series and the 24 hour Strathpuffer race. There are tough trails with stream crossings, hard climbs and fast descent for the technical expert, and easier tracks too. Magnificent views of lochs, rivers, Caledonian pine forests and mountains.
